Pennsylvania: 610-494-4874 Delaware: 302-798-0271What to do right now
- Call for delivery610-494-4874 in PA or 302-798-0271 in DE. Tell us you’re out so we can look at same-day delivery.
- Ask for a Prime & StartOnce a tank runs dry, most burners won’t relight on their own. Plan to be home so we can reach your boiler or furnace.
- Press reset once, at mostPressing the burner’s reset button over and over can flood it with oil, which then needs a technician to clean out.
- Keep the house safeUse the tips below to stay warm and protect your pipes until we arrive.
Is your tank really empty?
Signs you’re out of oil: the house is cold, the burner isn’t running, or it starts and shuts off and the reset button has tripped.
Check the gauge on top of the tank. It works like a car’s fuel gauge, with a float that drops as the oil level falls. If it reads empty or close to it, you’re out. Gauges can stick, so if it reads full but the heat is off, call us anyway.
Staying safe and warm until we arrive
- Never heat your home with a gas oven or stovetop, or run a generator, grill or camp heater indoors. They can fill the house with carbon monoxide.
- Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn, and plug them straight into a wall outlet, not an extension cord.
- Let faucets on outside walls drip, and open the cabinet doors under sinks so warm air reaches the pipes.
- Close the doors to rooms you’re not using to keep heat where you are.
What is a Prime & Start?
When a tank runs dry, air gets into the fuel line and the burner usually won’t relight on its own. A Prime & Start bleeds the air out of the line, primes the system and restarts it.
Add the Prime & Start when you place your order, and plan to be home so we can reach your boiler or furnace. If Prime & Start isn’t available at your address, call a local heating contractor for a service call after your delivery.
